One of our favorite things we have seen in the Spring/Summer fashion game this year… Maiden Noir’s Toutle Valley Anorak. We don’t even know where Toutle Valley is… oh, wait, you say that is near Mt St Helens? Got it. We want it more. Its sold out at Haven, if that doesn’t help.
These are looking like a good buy. Old-school Italian sportswear company Diadora just released the look of the Heritage Mi Basket 84, originally made for the 1984 Olimpia Milano professional basketball team, and it will see stores later this year. We like that nice broken in look…
This band is making our year feel like there is something special in the air. This is the second Lower Dens song (see ‘Brains’) that is on our constant playlist, and this video is something to behold on the eerie, shoegaze tip.
Melbourne’s Jeremy Geddes has his work on the cover of the newest February 2012 Juxtapoz, and that red is a stunner. Ashley Wood, one of our favorites, interviewed Geddes, as they have a show together at Jonathan LeVine Gallery later this year…
We close out our year of Oasis and “Definitely Thursday” with the last time Noel Gallagher went full-bore into his bag of early 1990s tricks with the vastly underrated “My Big Mouth” on 1997′s Be Here Now. Even though most of Oasis at this point was cocaine and excess, there were still at the core some pop gems that were destroyed in the studio… but with Noel’s comeback this year, we feel like we can look back on this era fondly.
We love Jamie xx and all of his remix projects this year, but we are happy to see the band get back together. The xx dropped a demo of new track, “Open Eyes,” on Christmas day. And we were happy between the food and unwrapping presents to get a little some.
We are starting to compile our end of the year list of music albums and songs that we heard in the year that was 2011, but we just wanted to note that San Francisco’s Fresh and Onlys, with their 2010 song “I’m A Thief,” is currently our favorite song in the TCR rotation. We thought you should know that.
