NYC’s Ryan McGinley is opening two shows at Team Gallery in NYC tonight, Animals and Grids. Animals consists of McGinley’s color studio portraits of live animals with nude models. Grids consists of three huge grids of individual portraits of fans at concerts. Something we may be checking out in NYC this weekend…
Michael Miller, who is showing at FIFTY24SF Gallery this weekend, starting on Friday, April 27, was the subject of a short film directed by Estevan Oriol, where Miller talks about his origins in hip-hop photography and his unique position of chronicling a culture.
After a weekend in Las Vegas, we are still feeling a bit of a hangover buzz, so instead of keeping things calm, we go right to J Dilla’s brilliant, hectic production for A.G.’s 2006 track, “Hip-Hop Quotable.” We could have used this at some point during the weekend. We don’t know what point, but it would have gone better than the casino tunes.
