Todd James “King of the Wild Frontier” @ Gering & Lopez, NYC
Todd “REAS” James will be doing two shows in one come March 1 at Gering & Lopez in NYC. King of the Wild Frontier will feature James’ now iconic Somali pirate pieces, and a recreation of Street Market’s “Vandals Bedroom,” last seen at MOCA’s Art in the Streets.
Says Gering & Lopez, “both vandals and pirates step over invisible boundaries put in place by faceless power structures every day. Both also anonymously make claims (to space or to cargo), their deeds forcing society to confront the undeniable complexity of right and wrong. It is this sense of injustice that informs and energizes James’ work. The fact that James is able to do this with a generous amount of humor is his unique ability.”

Todd “REAS” James on recreating Street Market at MOCA’s Art In the Streets with Stephen Powers and Barry Mcgee
Of all the things we have heard about Jeffrey Deitch’s MOCA Art In the Streets show in LA, the fact that REAS, ESPO, and TWIST are recreating the seminal Street Market show in the museum is the best thing we have read.
REAS wrote on his blog “Myself Steve and Barry have been working on our new installation “STREET” aka “Donut Time” for the LA MOCA Art in the streets show. Alexis Ross Devin Flynn Josh Lazcano and Dan Murphy are joining us as well, here’s some vague imagery for now. Trucks ship out filled with junk next Saturday. More to come.”
Awesome.

A classic video by Todd “REAS” James
Grotesk just lead us on to this one, a nice REAS classic titled “I STILL LIVE WITH MY MOMS.” This is when graffiti, hip-hop, humor, art, cartoons, all of it, was just on the tipping point of greatness. REAS, to us, is a visionary and talent with the best of them.
Todd “REAS” James for Umbro Manchester vs Sao Paulo campaign = Awesome
Posted from The Citrus Report
This made our day. Todd James for Umbro’s Manchester vs Sao Paulo campaign is the best thing we have seen all week, and we are already two days in. Smart move by Umbro to bring in an iconic and easily recognizable artist to get the campaign going. Umbro has a mini-interview with REAS.
And there is a whole video campaign as well that James did with Devin Flynn. Again, all good.
Cody Hudson at BAR in Miami
Cody Hudson has an opening this Monday, August 2nd, at BAR in Miami (following in the footsteps of another art great, Todd REAS James), where his new zine will make an appearance, the show will be up for a two months, and that is good news. We think you remember BAR, BAR the downtown Miami creative spot opened in 2010 by Aaron Bondaroff and Al Moran, founders of OHWOW.
Complex Magazine gets REAS and Jose “Ease” Parla to do hip-hop covers with T.I. and B.o.B.

Looks like Jose Parla and Todd “REAS” James made hip-hop look a lot better this month with these covers for Complex Magazine. We aren’t the biggest T.I. of B.o.B fans, hell, we can’t recall one thing the B.o.B. has done, but we like him with the REAS affect, and Parla does a good one on T.I. We know that in 2010, everything has to be a collab and a mash-up to reach every cross-over audience available, and this is done well.
Todd James and Lydia Fong “Brushstrokes” at V1 Gallery
Posted from The Citrus Report
We always like it when super talented artists who come from another planet, the planet of bugged out-ness, do a show together as is the case with Todd “REAS” James and Lydia “Don’t call me Barry McGee” Fong. They are teaming up for a show at the always influential V1 Gallery on July 9th, 2010. We will want to have been there, but Copenhagen is a long ways away.
