A Wow Tattoo

bottlenose amputee A Wow Tattoo Tattoo planet of the apes dolphin amputee

This is called taking it to the next level. An amputee, a dolphin tattoo, a really interesting decision. Would you do it? We would have done a great white shark, or a Linda Harrison from “Planet of the Apes” portrait tattoo. But this guy is a badass.

“Andrew Luck’s work reflects on the fractured American dream, and touches on Native American cultural disillusion. His hand labored works muted palette, dim and forgotten, is reflective of the artist’s internal feelings and second hand responsibility.”

Monta Ellis has a treet tattooed on his chest

Monta Monta Ellis has a treet tattooed on his chest Tattoo NBA monta ellis

Monta Ellis, who plays for the Golden State Warriors, home of the greatest fans who are self-hating in the fact that they support one of the worst franchises in sports in terms of front office history and win-loss records, you know the things that matter, is a very good player and just got this tattoo on his chest.

As one of our favorite NBA writers, Kelly Dwyer, notes, “I suppose you can’t really call it ‘terrible,’ considering that this was intended to showcase some pride in his family, and because there’s a child involved. But it’s not … it’s not good, is it?

It’s impressive, I suppose. That had to take a while. There are several branches, and really thick roots. And while beauty is in the eye of the beholder, no matter the art-form, your initial, dubious response is probably the best one.”

Tyson’s tattoo artist sues to stop ‘Hangover 2′

mike tyson tattoo1 Tyson’s tattoo artist sues to stop ‘Hangover 2′ Tattoo Mike Tyson hangover 2

This is kind of funny but we are really interested to see what happens with this suit. Mike Tyson’s tattoo artist, Whitmill is suing Warner Bros. for copyright infringement. They used a copy of Tyson’s tattoo on Ed Helms’ character in the Hang Over sequel. Whitmill apparently has all of the appropriate registration and a signed waver from Tyson giving him full rights to the artwork. It will be good for artists rights if he wins the case for sure.

Miya Bailey on his new documentary, “Color Outside the Lines: A Tattoo Documentary”

There is a great new documentary,”Color Outside the Lines: A Tattoo Documentary,” from tattoo artist Miya Bailey, founder of Atlanta’s City of Ink tattoo shop. Bailey is supposedly retiring after the film is released, and was in NYC recently doing special tattoo appointments. As you can imagine, there are not many black tattoo artists who get a lot of press, and Bailey has been one of the major figures in trying to erase this condition. He told Complex Magazine, on the subject of why he is making the film:

“’m doing the film because I’m ready to retire from tattooing and when I leave I want to try my best to bring other people up, all these brothers and sisters in the business. A lot of these artists are struggling out here. And they don’t have access to the avenues to get their work seen.

You know, I’ve been working on the film for a year and a half. My goal is to finish in two years. And I’m gonna finish in time.”
