The Simpsons looks to be officially coming to an end

the simpsons photo The Simpsons looks to be officially coming to an end The Simpsons FOX final season 23rd season

Looks like next season, The Simpsons will be calling it quits. Because of needed pay cuts and the animated series no longer being profitable for FOX, the show’s 23rd season will be its final batch of new episodes. To us, the show should have ended in about 1998, but its still an institution that needs the utmost respect.

Here is the statement from FOX…

23 seasons in, The Simpsons is as creatively vibrant as ever and beloved by millions around the world. We believe this brilliant series can and should continue, but we cannot produce future seasons under its current financial model. We are hopeful that we can reach an agreement with the voice cast that allows The Simpsons to go on entertaining audiences with original episodes for many years to come.

You know what will always win? The Simpsons. Even if we haven’t watched the show in a half decade, you throw a Homer, Bart, or Duff reference around, and we will gravitate towards it. That is why this Santa Cruz x The Simpsons release of cruiser boards (although we would never buy them), got our attention. And that classic Santa Cruz logo looks good as well…

He can talk, he can talk…. I can sing!

Of all “The Simpsons” moments, and after watching “Planet of the Apes” last night, this is one of our all-time favorite scenes in the animated show’s history. It is, like Heston, epic. “The Simpsons” was so much more subtle and on-point in this era…

Banksy on “The Simpsons” . . . again.

Remember last time Banksy was on The Simpsons? Well, this past Sunday, Mr Banksy was on The Simpsons again, coinciding with Homer, Marge, Bart, and the gang going to, you guessed it, the Academy Awards. Will Banksy win Best Documentary Feature at this Sunday’s event? The world awaits…

Defend yourself Poindexter: Kidrobot x The Simpsons Mini Series II

Posted from The Citrus Report

We would get the Milhouse toy, just to have that cute little kid sitting on our shelf. In the mid-1990s, he may have been our favorite “Simpsons” character, with the whole Fall Out Boy and Homer making little snide comments to him, like “Defend yourself Poindexter… ” or the great…. Have you ever heard of this kid Milhouse? He’s a little wiener…”

We want that Kidrobot x Simpsons toy.

UC Berkeley teaching a course on “Mad Men”

Posted from The Citrus Report

Doesn’t it seem weird to teach a history course at a major American university about a show that is basically trying to be a major American history course itself? What do you teach? We understand that “The Simpsons” is subversive, but “Mad Men?” Really?

Citrus Daily Catholic News: Vatican says The Simpsons are Catholic

Posted from The Citrus Report

Well that sort of changes things. In the Vatican propaganda machine,  L’Osservatore Romano, they insist the Simpsons are true Catholics. “The Simpsons are among the few TV programmes for children in which Christian faith, religion, and questions about God are recurrent themes… Few people know it, and he does everything he can to hide it, but it is true: Homer J Simpson is a Catholic.”
