Will Barras grew up in Birmingham and moved to Bristol to study graphic design. He became one of a new crop of young artists working in Bristol’s renowned street-art scene. He was a founding member of the Scrawl collective, alongside Steff Plaetz and Mr. Jago, thanks to his representations of fluid movement, unique narrative-driven composition, and line work. Scrawl published a seminal book in 1999 to document the new movement.

As such, Barras traveled extensively, live-painting and exhibiting pieces throughout Europe, the U.S., and Asia. Though Scrawl slowed down, he continued to paint and furthered his technique, collaborating with Stolen Space and the Brussels-based HLP. He currently takes on commercial projects of interest and directs animation at Th1ng studio in central London.

Check out his new series.

FIFTY24SF AND IMAGINARY FOUNDATION PRESENT “THE UNDIVIDED MIND”

Posted by FIFTY24SF Gallery

The latest in our series of pop-up shops and experiences on Fillmore street is an installation by the good folks at Imaginary Foundation.  The installation endeavors to fuse the aesthetic beauty of art and science in order to create a synthesis of mind, one which is as much rational as it is fantastic. Think of this undivided mind as a prototype of human possibility—an evolutionary signal of convergence, harmony, and accelerated progress.

The installation will open this Friday, November 19th at 248 Fillmore Street with a reception running from 7:30pm – 12midnight.  Admission is free. Refreshments will be provided. And wine will be hosted by William White Wines.  We’ll have more details over the next few days, but for more details check out the invite and RSVP.

James Jean tells us what he is doing for tonight’s Fashion’s Night Out “BIRDS & BOYS II”

Posted from The Citrus Report

James Jean has a show opening tonight in Los Angeles with 3.1 Phillip Lim called “Birds & Boys II.  The flier below has a bunch of info about down there, but we asked James Jean what it is that is actually happening in Los Angeles tonight.

“I created 19 portraits in almost as many days for this show. It was a pleasure meeting and working with each sitter for this series, but I was drinking and pissing iridescent ink by the last stroke of the brush. The venue is an architectural marvel and the work feels at home hanging in the store. More ephemeral than the passing seasons of fashion, the show will only be up for the weekend, so catch it while you can!”

Alex Pardee’s “CHADAM” now online

Posted from The Citrus Report

You may know that Alex Pardee and Zerofriends have been working with Warner Bros. Television for two years on the project of an animated series called ‘CHADAM,’ but guess what? It’s finally done.  Culminated. Complete.  In the word’s of Alex quoting the crazed Dr. Frankenstein, “IT’S ALIVEEE, IT’S ALLLLIVVVEEE, IT’S ALIIIIIIVVVVVVEEE!”

As you’d expect from the combination of Alex Pardee and animation, it’s really really cool. Really cool. The graphics and animation are stellar and the creatures and world that Alex has created are something more than the word ‘original’ describes.  The series chronicles the character Chadam as he awakens in Cardboard City  because a dark force has taken over Vulture Island.  Right now there’s five pieces of the series released with the following five to be released on June 20th.  Check out Alex Pardee’s Chadam here, the first part of the series is below.
