This past Monday night, Green Apple Books in San Francisco held a taco and beer party in honor of the release of Haruki Murakami’s new opus, 1Q84. The Citrus Report decided to head out, pre-order our book, and sit for a few hours in the Socialism section with a few Sapporo cans to discuss world issues. And, of course, the 1Q84. —Raymond Brown / The Citrus Report

The Beastie Boys Action Figure Set… because they are nerds too

beastie boys action figure set 1 605x403 The Beastie Boys Action Figure Set... because they are nerds too toys the beastie boys nowhere action figures A Bathing Ape

The Beastie Boys are nerds. And so we think an action figure set of the three Beasties makes a ton of sense. And we love that A Bathing Ape did the toys, with baggy, preppy hip-hop clothes to boot. According to HB, the toys are made by, “Nowhere Ltd./A Bathing Ape. Made for the release of the trio’s ‘Don’t Play No Game That I Can’t Win’ music video (the new Spike Jonze one), the set mirrors the characters used in the video. Each 11.5″ figure comes decked out in a 16″ x 12″ metal box accompanied with plenty of accessories and gear. Priced at $750 USD, the set is now available here.”

iPad 2 announced, out next week

We like a good Macbook Pro, iPod, and iPhone, those are great machines, but we are still not 100% sold on the iPad. We love the idea of it, we love the fact that it is a big toy with email capabilities, but we still want to see where this is heading, instead of all of us talking about the possibilities of the iPad and making useful for everyone. It seems like a great idea, but we are looking forward to the iPad really taking over. And they love making things thinner and lighter over their at Apple. Love it.

That said, we will probably buy one.

Pop Culture by Alex Pardee

It could say “I Hate Tuesday.” Or any day really. But Garfield done by Alex Pardee, nice touch. Pardee and Zerofriends have taken a bunch of the “pop-culture” subjects they have covered over the past few years, and are having a print release.

Alex says: We decided to gather some of our favorite pop-culture related art from recent years and release it all at once. It’s a little scattered throughout the online store, so take a few minutes to spelunk around the interwebs of Zerofriends and perhaps you will see something you may have missed from your childhood. I love creating pop-culture inspired art, so stay tuned, as I’m sure we will have another handful in a few months:)

Banksy’s packaging designs for US DVD release of “Exit Through the Gift Shop”

Posted from The Citrus Report

This is probably the only DVD we will buy all year, not because we are collector’s item sort of people, but because the Banksy film was so entertaining, we might actually want to own it. And really, in this day and age, who wants to own anything anymore?

Wooster Collective posted about all the extras for the DVD release of “Exit Through the Gift Shop.”
