MYTHOLOGICAL FACES BY DANIEL BOCATTO

Daniel Boccato worked on wall-mounted sculptures moulded with corrugated plastic, tarp and tape. His work preserves the spontaneity of preliminary sketches, its frank, childlike energy amplified in strong colors and punchy 3-D. Each piece originates in a throw-away mould which once painted and reinforced with fibreglass and epoxy is discarded, leaving only the negative impression marks of the final surface.

BLURRED SCULPTURES BY HIROFUMI FUJIWARA

Karlsruhe, Germany based artist Hirofumi Fujiwara was born in Hiroshima, Japan. His sculptures in clay and plastic are looking aimlessly, yet awake and openly towards the viewer. In inconspicuous clothing, which Fujiwara has carefully painted, they appear contemporary. The transparent plastic tubes lull the figures partially or completely into pensive sleep and let their contours disappear, blurred behind virtual foam.

“DEEP FRIED GHOST” BY TEPPEI KANEUJI

Quirky yet thoughtful sculptures by Tokyo-based artist, Teppei Kaneuji. Kaneuji is an omnivorous artist whose work is often described in musical terms cribbed from remix culture: his work is a mixtape, while he is a DJ. Such metaphors reflect both his preoccupation with pop culture and his penchant for combining divergent themes.

Kaneuji grafts together the detritus of overconsumption, creating candy-colored sculptures and prints with Manga-influenced lines that are the product of the overly stimulating, image-saturated culture in which he was raised. He incorporates diverse materials into his work, such as wood and colorful plastic tubing, sticky white polyester resin and neon toy parts.
