KID KOALA’s “Music to Draw To” session from Montreal to get you ready for Noise Pop

Kid Koala will be performing a 4-hour set at Noise Pop’s Culture Club this Saturday (Feb 26) at Public Works in San Francisco, and because we are going to be spending most of the day there, we wanted to get you and us ready. And Montreal is great, only good things happen there.

Here is what Noise Pop says about the set:

An afternoon of quiet time records to warm up those creative juices (as part of the Kid Koala Loud Party / Quiet Work weekend), the 4-hour ‘Music To Draw To…’ participatory soiree will be a touch quieter than his Friday night set at Mighty.

Bring your sketchbook, yarn, 3D rendering laptops or that lump of clay. Your admission ticket includes a free cup of hot chocolate and a pencil and music will be provided by Kid Koala. Expect a full 4-hour set of some of his favorite quiet time records that he has collected on his travels around the world plus a sneak preview from his forthcoming soundtrack to Space Cadet.

Baked goods will be provided by Kid Koala’s wife, Corinne, who dreams of someday opening a bakery in Montreal and would like to try some of her new creations first.

Quiet people are invited. Bring something you like to work on. No dancing. Hope to see you there!

FIFTY24SF presents Monica Canilao and Jason Jaworski at Noise Pop/Culture Club this weekend

NOISE POP/CULTURE CLUB with FIFTY24SF present:

FUTURE SOUNDS

MONICA CANILAO & JASON JAWORSKI
Future Sounds is a collaboration between artists Monica Canilao and Jason Jaworski, consisting of an on-site installation created by Monica Canilao and a performance within the space by Jason Jaworski. Culled from found objects, ephemera and other bits of houses long fallen, Canilao’s shack installation activates the dreams of all who look upon it; the roof bleeds colors of every possible outcome a path will take you once you step out of these four walls. In a performance within the installation, Jason Jaworski, dressed in a costume spilling out of the entrance, will be delivering fortunes and the prose of a person’s future on a typewriter to any who enter and inquire.

Saturday and Sunday, FEB 26-27 at SF Public Works

Upper Playground teams up with Peanut Butter Wolf & Dam Funk for Noise Pop 2011

Posted from The Citrus Report

As you know we’ve been deeply involved with the Noise Pop festival this year, presenting the pop-up shop and hub for the whole festival on Fillmore street… Check out the calendar for the shop because there’s nightly events going on which are good, slightly clean fun.

On top of that we have the extreme honor of presenting a show featuring the legendary Peanut Butter Wolf and Dam Funk at Public Works on February 26th, 2011.  From 1989 on Peanut Butter Wolf has left an indelible mark on hip hop music; from collaborating with the late Charizma to founding Stones Throw Records and overseeing the releases of Madlib, Jaylib, and DâM-Funk.  This show will feature all 45s sets by both Dam Funk and Peanut Butter Wolf. For tickets click here.

To get completely down with it, we’re also holding a Peanut Butter Wolf inspired remix contest and the winner will receive passes to the entire Noise Pop music festival and a $150 gift certificate to our store. To enter, click here and give your best Peanut Butter Wolf impression by submitting a remix of one of the legendary Charizma acapelas. We’ll announce the winners on February 21st.
