As you might remember, if you can think back all the way to 1988, Super Mario Bros 2 was a big damn deal. And as we just learned, “The 8-bit classic, which became a massive hit for the Nintendo Entertainment System, grew out of a mock-up of a vertically scrolling, two-player, cooperative-action game, Super Mario Bros. 2 director Kensuke Tanabe told Wired.com in an interview at this year’s Game Developers Conference.”
There is a crazy behind the scenes story to SMB2, about how they prototype was set up, to how different the game was in Japan than to the US, just a bunch of useless, wonderful facts you can read here.
