New York City based Erik Carter’s work is both aesthetically provocative and conceptually driven. The graphic designer and art director graduated as a CD major in 2011 and has gone on to work for MTV, The New York Times, andThe Office of Paul Sahre. His book covers and illustrations have received notable recognition in the design world and beyond.

Paul Insect “Out of Chaos” @ Opera Gallery, NYC

Former FIFTY24SF Gallery exhibiting artist, Paul Insect, is set to open “Out of Chaos” at Opera Gallery in NYC this Thursday, November 29. From the gallery: “Out of Chaos” is Paul Insect’s first show in New York City and features a series of striking new works projecting a world out of control with visions of both helplessness and hope. How do we emerge out of this chaos? Insect’s work demonstrates the power of art as the solution.

Eriberto & Estevan Oriol “Like Father, Like Son : NYC”

Go see our friend, Estevan Oriol, open a show with his father, the uber-talented Eriberto, in NYC at a Carmichael pop-up space… the show was delayed due to Sandy, but it opens Friday, November 9th. All of our Estevan Oriol x Upper Playground product here.

Carmichael Gallery is pleased to announce Like Father, Like Son : NYC, a retrospective survey of works by renowned Los Angeles-based Chicano father and son photographers, Eriberto and Estevan Oriol. The exhibition debuted at Carmichael Gallery’s Culver City space in the fall of 2011. The New York edition of Like Father, Like Son will comprise fifteen limited edition black and white, color, silver gelatin and digital c-prints from each photographer, including works exhibited in Art in the Streets (April 17 – August 11, 2011) at The Museum of Contemporary Art, Los Angeles (MOCA). The exhibition, which offers a dramatic taste of the urban California lifestyle, marks the first showing of the Oriols’ work side by side on the US east coast.

There will be an opening reception for Like Father, Like Son : NYC on November 9, from 6 to 8pm at 303 Tenth Ave in Chelsea. Both Eriberto and Estevan Oriol will be in attendance. The exhibition will run through November 24, 2012.

Futura “FUTURE SHOCK”

Andy Valmorbida is pleased to present FUTURE SHOCK, the first New York solo exhibition of new paintings by FUTURA in over a decade, curated by Nemo Librizzi. The exhibition opens at 560 Washington Street, New York City on Thursday, September 6, 2012 from 6 PM – 9 PM.
