El Mac teamed up with KOFIE and PLEK on this memorial mural for Dash2000. Mac wrote, “I painted this portrait recently with Kofie and Plek for my friend Dominic “DASH 2000″ Smith. He was known for being one of the early members of legendary LA graffiti crew UTI (Under The Influence) back in the ’80s. He constantly experimented with different mediums, sketched, and painted, pushing his creativity for the rest of his life. This portrait was based on a photo taken by Eriberto Oriol, the background was painted by Augustine Kofie, and Plek did the letters. Kofie’s cloud designs are a tribute to Dash’s deep respect and admiration for Asian culture…”
El Mac and Kofie just teamed up in Los Angeles for another great mural for KROQ Sound Space. If you don’t know, KROQ is probably the biggest rock station in the USA… and they stream concerts and shows from the Sound Space… besides that, the wall looks solid.
Old friend Kofie One has a show up at White Walls through November 6th, and he set up a timelapse video to coincide with the set-up. Smart.
An old friend of the Upper Playground family, Kofie One, has a new solo show up at White Walls here in SF, and Juxtapoz.com caught up with the man to talk about his new show, process, and architecture. Read the whole thing here.
El Mac is emptying the camera files right now, as he is back in LA and giving everyone the summary of his summer… here are a few more shots from his time in Berlin, with a nice wall with Kofie One, and a quick portrait of Mac’s girlfriend, Kim, as well… keep it coming…
