Yes, environmentalists rejoice. Intel knows more than BP. Well, BP knows a lot, they are just the evil corporation we have all come to either work for or give more power to. Looks like the Xeon-powered Encanto supercomputer has spent a few days on the oil spill in the Gulf, and here is came to its conclusion that “once the oil moves past Florida to the Gulf Stream, it could carry oil up to 3,000 miles each month–to the East Coast and beyond.”

Yes, Eastern Seaboard, screwed, too. Wow, BP is working SO hard to make sure the world is safe.

Kevin Costner saving the Gulf (and this isn’t a movie)

8ac8a5d05c05x453.jpg Kevin Costner saving the Gulf (and this isn’t a movie) promote the use plot param name our screenplay oil spill machines kevin his centrifuges headlines gulf clean up citrus report

This isn’t Waterworld, or the plot to our screenplay for Waterworld Pt. 2 that we’ve been writing at The Citrus Report (although, thanks for asking, the screenplay is shaping up quite well).  Kevin Costner has apparently invest $20 million dollars and 15 years of his life in technology that can separate oil from water.

He just gave a speech at a congressional hearing to  promote the use of his centrifuges to clean up the gulf, although he has faced years of hurdles trying to get the devices passed through the federal regulatory process (we repeat, we are NOT summarizing the plot to ‘The Day After Tomorrow’ or any other movie where a nerdy scientist goes up against a panel of hard lined politicians who don’t believe in science, this is real, we can’t stress this enough). So now the regulatory committees have loosened their grip in the face of this utter catastrophe and BP has bought many of his machines to clean up the gulf with (once again, not a doomsday-esque movie plot, it just involved Kevin Costner).

Update! There has been a retraction… take that apology off the table says Barton

72d0c3e70dn r tx.jpg Update! There has been a retraction… take that apology off the table says Barton should bear opening moron headlines gulf gop citrus report bear the full art apology

Seriously, now this clown is taking his apology to BP back. True GOP style on this one.The Times reports “In a statement, Mr. Barton apologized “for using the term ‘shakedown’ with regard to yesterday’s actions at the White House in my opening statement this morning, and I retract my apology to BP. As I told my colleagues yesterday and said again this morning, BP should bear the full financial responsibility for the accident on their lease in the Gulf of Mexico.”

Thanks for the memories, Joe.

Today’s big asshole award goes to GOP Rep. Joe Barton of Texas

243d5d85bbtownco.jpg Today’s big asshole award goes to GOP Rep. Joe Barton of Texas words white house usa tony hayward thieves oil spill Obama maybe the dead joe barton house gulf citrus report apologize

This piece of shit, GOP Rep. Joe Barton has the audacity to apologize to BP CEO Tony Hayward for what he said “I’m ashamed of what happened in the White House yesterday. I think it is a tragedy of the first proportion that a private corporation can be subjected to what I would characterize as a shakedown. In this case a $20 billion shakedown.”

Oh, this asshole continues: “I apologize. I do not want to live in a country where any time a citizen or a corporation does something that is legitimately wrong, is subject to some sort of political pressure that is, again, in my words — amounts to a shakedown, so I apologize.”

Apologized because the White House was asking and exposing some hard truths on a company that just destroyed an entire chunk of the world? Apologized to an oil company? Maybe the dead sea life and birds of the gulf should apologize to BP for being alive? Maybe Obama should apologize next? Shit, the Chairman of BP, Carl-Henric Svanberg, yesterday called the residents of the Gulf “small people.” That family in on the coast in Mississippi should apologize to the Chairman for not being a blood-sucking, corporate demon who took his business education and became a monster.

Let’s get this straight, according to the above linked story, Barton is a “staunch conservative who has a long record of backing oil industry interests, Barton apologized to BP CEO Tony Hayward for the “shakedown”  the Obama White House pulled on the company. (Barton has received more than $1.5 million in campaign donations from the oil industry, according to Open Secrets, a nonpartisan watchdog group.”

For anyone who has ever voted for this ignorant clown, at least you can say one thing about him: he remains steadfast in his support for his pals. Even Republicans are distancing themselves from Barton.

We think we should all collectively apologize to BP. We’re sorry that millions of gallons of oil are being poured into the Gulf today because you run a profit machine without one care for the world around you. We’re sorry. Hail to the Thieves!

BP Buys “Oil Spill” Search Terms on Google, Yahoo, and Bing to capture the message

BP Buys “Oil Spill” Search Terms on Google, Yahoo, and Bing to capture the message” posted from: The Citrus Report | Art, Culture, News, Graffiti, Music, Street Art, Clothing, Politics, Reviews

2e2f96e076s page.png BP Buys “Oil Spill” Search Terms on Google, Yahoo, and Bing to capture the message terms on search street search terms politics gulf of mexico gulf environment art

According to TreeHugger.com, “BP seems to have bought many phrases related to the Gulf of Mexico oil spill on the major search engines (Google, Yahoo, Bing). What this means is that people who do an internet search to find information about the spill have a good chance to see BP’s official site pop up at the top of their search results.” That just messes with the truth a tad, don’t you think?

Of course BP says, “We have bought search terms on search engines like Google to make it easier for people to find out more about our efforts in the Gulf and make it easier for people to find key links to information on filing claims, reporting oil on the beach and signing up to volunteer,” BP spokesman Toby Odone told ABC News.

They might as well say, we bought search terms so you fucking idiots out there can see we are making a minimal effort as we destroy the earth and we really don’t give a fuck because most of us executives live elsewhere and don’t give a shit about the Gulf of Mexico and the environment. Oh, and if you morons volunteer, that is less work for us. So thank you.
