Faith47 is an internationally-acclaimed visual artist from South Africa who has been applauded for her ability to resonate with people around the world. Through her work, Faith47 attempts to disarm the strategies of global realpolitik, in order to advance the expression of personal truth. In this way, her work is both an internal and spiritual release that speaks to the complexities of the human condition, its deviant histories and existential search.

New Mural by Faith47 and Alexis Diaz: ‘EROS – DESIRE – DE SIDUS – OF THE STAR‘

New collaboration mural completed by Faith47 and Alexis Diaz at Wynwood Walls, Miami, Florida.  Titled ‘EROS -DESIRE – DE SIDUS – OF THE STAR‘ the gigantic wall illustrates a sensuous scene of a beautiful woman (EROS) entangled and afloat with a snake.

Collaborating artist, Alexis Diaz writes:

“The image reflects on the different layers of sensuality. Eros is the greek god of love and desire, the word desire comes from the latin word ‘de sidus’ which means ‘of the star’. The intensity of how we look to a partner to complete us somehow. Perhaps sensual desires could be reflective of a deep yearning to return to the source. ” -Alexis Diaz

New series of walls by Faith47 in Durban, South Africa

Kierran Allen Photography - Faith 47 -06
As part of a cultural program of the 25th World Congress on Architecture, UIA2014 Durban,  Faith47 was invited to paint six giant walls in South Africa.  The six walls, located under the main freeway overpass is situated in four giant supporting columns over looking the Early Morning Market in Warwick. Faith47 has just finished the first three murals and will paint three more in August.  The artist explains:

“The paintings are portraits of actual traders in the area. Perhaps the Inyanga looks like an everyday person, he is not dressed in a traditional manner signifying his vocation; its true to life. We don’t always know who someone is when we see him or her on the street, but there is a great wealth of stories hidden within each of us.”

“The atmosphere of Warick triangle is wild and chaotic, allot of people are scared to even venture into that area. This is a potent high energy zone which really reaches the people on the street. I needed to dedicate these walls to the individuals who work there, to the strength and importance of informal trade within our economy.  it is the people of warick who have made it so alive. The architecture truly belongs to them.”
