Her work started out autobiographical in nature, but has taken on a social context ever since she moved to Baltimore. She is best known for her portrait paintings that address social justice, as well as her choice of subjects, which are drawn from outside of the art historical narrative. Through her work, she takes a closer look at the way people construct and perform their identities in response to political, social, and cultural expectations.

Stacey Rozich paints a folkloric narrative that draws inspiration from many cultural references, building scenarios pulled from a realm of familiar fictional archetypes and traditions. Influence is taken from travel, world textiles, childhood memories and the many many hours spent watching television. All works are created in watercolor and gouache.

MODERN REALITIES BY ALEKSANDAR TODOROVIC

by Ariadna Zierold

Aleksandar Todorovic is the child of the Serbian 90’s, meaning he has been exposed to a dramatic collapse of major moral and cultural values, along with the break-up of Yugoslav republic and the unfortunate war-colored years after. This period proves to be crucial in the formation of the artist’s visual language, as his learned impulse is that politicians equal evil. His style has been influenced by comics and pop culture, video games, and illustration, through which the artist endeavors in depicting the modern reality, such as it is – complex, crooked and festered with greed and ill will.
